Bat Reps

I was able to actually get in two games today and was pretty happy how the army did. I played both games against Drew and his Dark Eldar. Both games were played at 1000 points and I used the same list in both games that I posted.

His list was more or less Archon, 3 squads of wyches in raiders, two 3 man bike squads with the d3 hits for running units over, and a venom with incubi.

The first game we did 3 objectives. I won the roll and deployed first. I decided to put everything on the left flank of the board, and fight for the left objective and the middle objective. Drew countered by putting everything on the other side of the board. The first turn the razorbacks moved to the center of the board and used smoke. The terminators went straight forward and hid in a building out of site. The purgation squad moved from it cover towards the building the terminators were hiding behind. On the dark eldar turn he moved his bikes around the back of the building the terminators were hiding behind and moved a raider that way as well. The other two raiders and venom moved to the middle area.

The second turn I used astral aim to shoot at a squad of bikes that I could not see and made them run, they were under 50 so they ran forever. Two raiders were also knocked out during this turn. A few guys here and there went down from a wytch squad. His turn he assaulted the terminators with his archon and squad. After two turns the terminators were able to take them out.

Turn three both strike squads were out of the razorbacks and fighting wytches. The last raider went down on this turn, and everything was locked in combat at this point except the 3 man bike squad and the purgation squad. On his turn he was losing both combats but did not run. He also made the purgation squad fall back with one guy remaining in it.

Turn four saw all assaults end with the Grey Knights winning all of them, even though I forgot to use the psy grenades on my leader which could have helped some more. The solo purgation psycannon was able to pick off two bikes and we decided to call it game here at the end of the fourth turn since all that was left was the bike.

Result-WIN

I am going to save the second battle rep for Monday.
I picked up paint, primer, and a razorback today on the modeling front.
Earlier this week I built my Land Raider Crusader.

Grey Knights

I traded my Vostryan army away and received a ton of grey knights nib.

In other good news I have a bunch of Imperial Guard still sealed in box, so my plan is to return that and get some stuff to fill out what I got. Mainly need to get the codex and 2 Razorbacks to finish out my 1k list. Ill will also probably get the dreadknight because its such an awesome looking model.

Why we fight

Captain Harp sat in his officers quarters waiting for word from his first search and rescue parties. An NCO 1st Sgt came in through the door and told him that neither scout party had found any survivors. He also reported that the starport was completly abandoned and that units were moving in now to establish a key supply point. He told him that they had also set up a defensive perimeter in an abandoned city just north of Alpha 1, which had become the slang for the forward command headquarters.
Captain Harp told him that we would have to hold off on more searching and that it was time to start building defences. Harp told his non com that he had a feeling they would be on Din for quite some time. The non com turned to Harp and said, sir god created us right, and god created the enemies of the imperium, Harp gave a harsh look at his non com and asked if there was a question in there. The non com slightly scared on continuing said sir what do you believe in. Harp grinned and said son I believe in ammunition, now why dont you get back to the front.
Just as the non com was about to leave the room Inquisitor Albrecht came crashing through the door nearly knocking the sgt to the ground and told Harp that he felt something was coming and that they just move the the jungle area as soon as possible.

So the first two turns were kinda uneventful for me in the campaign just mainly taking 3 tiles near my hq. Luckily i was able to grab a starport. So this will give me access to the moon this turn. Kevin attacked me so I will be playing a game against chaos demons on thurs.

Din Kaldir

As word came in that the warp storm over Din Kaldir had cleared, and with no word on whether or not there were any survivors left on the planet Captain Harp had no idea that it would be his company that would lead a search and rescue.

Harp sat in his officers quarters at outpost Delta 5 his 1st Lieutenant came in with a message in hand. Lieutenant Spears said told the Captain that they have recieved orders from Terra that the 208th Valhallan would lead the initial search and rescue on the ground. Harp sat still for a moment wondering what terrors they would find on the planet after a warp storm. He had never been to a planet that had suffered a warp storm only heard the tales. Now he would be responsible for saving any life that remains on the planet. What he did not know was that Inquisitor Albrecht would be joining up wiht the 208th to do a full investigation on whether or not Din Kaldir would be declared for Exterminatus.

Harp turned to Spears and told him to ready the men and have the airborne prepare the ships for transport. Harp did not know what foes lie before him, but he did know that his men would follow him to hell's end, and it is on Din Kaldir that the 208th might find that end.

So this is the first time I am going to be playing in a campaign. There are 20 ppl in it so it should be a lot of fun. They made a very nice tile map for it. I placed my HQ pretty close to where Drew put his since he is playing Space Wolves and I'm playing Guard.
I have been working on the Valhallans for the past two months and they are almost all purchased and built so that is good.
The High Elves are on ebay after some dick backed out of deal on barter town. So close to owning a titan. So I will use that cash to buy the last few things I need and my army will be up and running by the time of my first battle.

Well things are really starting to come together for the valhallans. I was able to get most of the stuff I needed for that army this week. Also this past week I was able to play three games.

This list did very well this past week netting me three wins.

Game 1 was vs orks

The green tide was coming and it was up to Captain Harp to stop them.

His list was roughly Big mek with custom, 3 units of 25 with nob with powerclaw, dread, and 15 lootas.

I honestly dont remember to much from this game except that the punished killed several orks. Also on the last turn the master of ord called down a great strike taking out his remaining unit. I won this game one objective to zero.

Game 2 vs Space Wolves

His list roughly 2 ten mans in rhino, predator, Space Wolf Chap equiv, 15 Jump Packers.

He stole the first turn by getting the six and was able to advance his army up the board. I returned some fire on the first turn doing minimal damage, immobilizing a rhino was the highlight of this turn. The second turn his jump packers jumped over the kill and tore a guard unit apart. My second turn i fired everything possible at the chap and his jump packers bringing them down to around 4 guys. The only thing not to shoot at them were the vets who parked there chimera next to a rhino got out assaulted and surrounded the tank exits and placed some melta bombs. The screams of the burning wolves inside gave Vet Sgt Kemp a deep satisfaction.

Turn three the jump packers took out another unit as the chap tried to go alone. On my turn the punisher took sight on the chaplin along with a chimera and two remaining squads. Inflicting 23 wounds he made all but one. On turn 4 the chaplin charged and found the bayonette of a guardsmen to be his demise and not the tons of lead pumped into his runic armor. On my turn 4 it was clean up time. The lascannons took sight of the predator and finally were able to knock it out. The punisher and remaining squads open up fire on the marines who were holding near the objective by their immobile rhino. The remaining jump packers were eventually grinded down in close combat with the vets. I won this game two objectives to zero.

Third game was vs Guard

He roughly took CCS with master of ord and mortar, PCS x2 with mortars, 4 squads with a lascannon 2 of which had meltagun 2 with plasma gun, a reg LRBT, a punisher, and a basi. Oh boy that is a lot of ordance coming down.

Captain Harp was able to keep his men in line during this game despite the amount of incoming fire. Some highlight of the game were my vets assaulting both russes and taking them out, my master of ord scattering like 15 inches into the basi and taking it out. This game finished with me having two objectives and the other guard having one .

All in all this was a good week for the Valhallans. So far ive put together 24 Valhallans. I know thats a weird number but each squad comes with two guys that are very hard to glue so i was waiting to get some blue tac so they will be easier to put together. I have a ton of shit to put together after my purchases this week included:

This is my new project. I am still trying to decide what kinda army I want to field with them but so far I got two squads of ten to paint up. I also made a purchase from forge world for 1 squad of Elysians and the Kreig Commisar which I think is my new favorite model. So if anyone has ideas on how I should run the Valhallans let me know.

Ive been getting ass handed to me vs orks in apoc but proud last game took down one of the stompas and the garg squigoth, so progress is being made.

Damnit, lost another apoc battle to the orks. It was my first game using superheavies so that was fun. God damn custom force field stompas are annoying. Highlight of the match was doing 7 wounds to a garg squiggoth on the last turn so close to taking it out. Anyways Drew is pushing for me to go to the game room in sept for some sort of massive one on one game. I will be going up against Chaos and I of course will be playing the Imperial Guard. I decided I need a bit of time so the game will not be played until sept. I think im going to need a few painting nights at the house that woe built.

May stop by the game room to try and pick up some more stuff. Other projects that are currently going on are my valhallans. I have been scouring ebay every day looking to pick some stuff up. I have some auctions ending tomorrow so I hope that Ill be able to win some. My goal is to have a complete company for each race of guard. We will see how that goes. Im also going to order some 10 man squads from the collectors section. 35 bucks for ten guys doesnt seem to bad. I really need a bretonian box of men at arms for some conversions I want to do. I have been wanting to do more conversions lately and have found that I cant bring myself to pick up a brush. I am hoping that this game at the gameroom will inspire some painting to get done. Also all my cadian melta gunners should be coming in the mail this week for some high elf crap that I sent out via bartertown.com

Reinforcement have arrived

Since we have started playing warhammer I have always been the one pushing for larger games. The group has finally been convinced to play at the apoc level and I think that everyone is enjoying themselves. You would think I would be the first to get a super heavy but sadly I was the last. I picked up a baneblade and stormblade for 100 bucks this past Sunday. When I got home I started on the baneblade, it took quite long to complete. About 5 and a hald hours later my first super heavy was finished and now I cant wait to try her out.

The tides of war

Yesterday was a very good day got to get three games in. Game one I played vs Drew and he was using his DE and I was playing my HE. I would say the first four turns of this game he just pounded on me relentlessly like a monkeys uncle. By turn two all 4 bolt throwers were basically taken out of service. This was very bad. The good news is that the sword masters made it to his backfield and were able to take out one of his bolt throwers. The white lions proved their worth as usual as they ran down a unit on the last turn to capture a standard which was important since it basically pushed the game to a tie since he had one of mine. I think I should have not taken Elf magic vs drew in this game.

Game two was vs hoj playing his dwarves. This game went horrible. For starters I really didnt know how much his warmachines would hurt, so on turn one i kinda just held my ground shooting. I learned rather quickly that it hurts. I should have not taken fire magic I should have went with elf magic so I could have given my units ward saves. Highlight of the game came on the last turn when Cara charged the anvil and challneged out the Rune Lord. He was struck down by a great weapon and horrible rolling on my part in combat, but the mark came down and buried the Rune lord for 5 wounds. To be honest I cant believe I came back to only have a minor victory instilled against me. Oh I also forgot the knights brutally failed in this game. They charged a block unit and did not inflict a single would on the charge. Hoj didnt have to make one armor save. To add insult to injury the knights were run down by the dwarves I mean are you kidding me.

Game three was also vs Hoj but I was trying out a different HE list. I took basically a fast moving army. The list is basically a prince on a griffon, 3 noble's on great eagles, 3 lion chariots, 4 repeaters, 2 10 man archer units, and 6 dragon princes. In this game I got the first turn and flew towards cover with all my flying units while things advanced. Anvil didnt work for hoj turn one so i flew behind all his units on turn two and also was inflicting good damage ona block unit with my repeaters. Turn three I wiped out all of his artillery through combat and one was shot out by repeaters. As the game went on I killed a block unit with knights and a chariot. My leader fought for three turns alone vs hammerers and finally ran off the board, I was very happy with the damage he did killing a grudge thrower, a unit of miners, and about 9 hammerers or so. Towards the end of the game I held an extra table quarter and secured a solid victory.

The High Elf Prince paced back and forth, the leader of his army the noble Jigarol had been captured by the Dark Elves. This was no ordinary noble. Third in line to become protecterate of the kingdom is no ordinary nobel. He had no choice he must unleash the armies of his kingdom. The Dark Elves will regret the day they took Jigarol. There was something missing, the army must be led by a new elf, and not just some noble, but none other then the Captain of the Phoniex Guard. I weep for our cousins who have gone astray.

So this weekend I played Drew and his Dark Elves. We were playing at 2250 and I basically just added a mage in and the banner of sorcery. This gave me several more power dice and actually let me do a little bit of offensive magic. The game went very well for me. This was the first battle in which I used a special char and he did not disappoint. He struck down one of drew hero in one swing of the blade doing three wounds. He charged a unit of crossbowmen and held then for two turns widdling them down while waiting for the white lions, and he also made a chariot lay in its own wreckage. I like this current list but the only thing im considering is dropping one unit of archers as it always seems I only really need one unit.

Played a game vs Wong this week. He was using Ogre kingdoms and I was playing the High Elves. This game went very well for me. The ogres basically could not deal with the 4 repeater bolt throwers. By the time he reached my ranks the White Lions and Sword Masters were able to clean up everything that was left. Wizard rolled a 5 for magic which was pretty cool as a rip spell. It was a little better cause I think Wong kept forgetting to dispel it so it got up to str 6 hits which was rather nice. Spearmen got run down on a flee move so that was kinda sad but all in all it was a solid game.

Weekend Update

All right so I got to play two games vs Wong this week. The first was vs Dark Elves and the second vs the green tide of the orcs. The first list added a unit of Sword Masters at the expense of a chariot and a unit of spearmen more or less. Game was going decent, until the turn after I destroyed Wong's middle. Everyone around the table (Jon and Hoj) were ready to claim massacre for the High Elves, but unfortunatly the Dark Elves had other ideas. I knew it was nowhere near over as I saw all the charges that were about to occur. Also, some more anti magic was added to this list. The dispel scroll that makes the wizard forget the spell on a 4 up was very useful, but the MVP magic item was deff the crystal ball. It takes one dice from my opponents cast pool and adds it to my dispel pool. Nothing wrong with a two dice turn around in my favor. My fears came true in this game as the chariots went racing across the board along with his leaders unit causing pain everywhere. Not a single High Elf stood at the end of the game as Wong had about 400 pts worth of models left on the board.

Result : Loss

The second game went better for me. The focused fire of my 4 Bolt Throwers made it so his leaders unit had about 7 guys left by the time it was close to combat. In this game the spearmen made a strategic retreat allowing the White lions to charge the unit on the flank. That unit then fled and I was able to run into his lowly leaders unit of 7 men. Killing two units in one round of combat was very nice. There were still some issues on the board as the giant was looming around with about three wounds on it from bolt thrower fire. The sword master had to prove their worth having already killed a unit of black orcs took on the giant with some success. Mainly they were able to kill it but 9 died when the giant toppeled ontop of them. Victory was close. A unit of orcs then charged my white lions along with a chariot. They held strong on the first round of combat taking out the chariot. the next turn some bad rolling led to them running, but it was fine as the swordmasters were ready to charge and end the game. The result of this was that I really like the Swordmasters and that the chariot may be on its way out. T4 is just not good enough to justify the chariot in this. Im not sure what I will do with the points at this time but we shall see.

Fantasy is back

It has finally happened Warhammer Fantasy has come out from the shadows and seems to be alive and well. First off Wong has recruited a new member to the group for gaming who is going to play Chaos which is cool. Wong has decided to start an Orc army with all the models he has recieved from Hoj. Jon will be raising up the Tomb Kings again no pun intended. Older Wong I assume will put his brothers Dark Elf army to good use especially considering he is obsessed with his Black Guard on WAR. Then there is Hoj where you need to roll a dice and consult the randomn events chart to see what army that he is going to be playing. Finally, there is me who will be going with High Elves.

I played three games this weekend. The units I liked from this weekend were my White Lions and my Spearmen. Im not even going to say bolt throwers because who doesnt like using them in an elf army. The units that i am on the fence about are the chariots, i tried out both kinds and a second wizard. The units that I am going to exclude are the prince on the dragon and the great eagle.

Little recap of the game. First game was vs Hoj who was playing Ogres. First couple of turns he was really beating me up. I was just not doing enough damage to really do anything. Then my Prince on a dragon started tearing shit up in his back field. He literally killed 90 percent of Hoj's army.

Result : Win

Second game was vs Wong fielding the orcs. This was a good fight but Im a little hazy on a ton of details. Highlight for him though was a stone thrower unit killing my Prince who got knocked off the dragon by running them down. Apparently a Prince cant fight in close combat with lance on foot lol. (Charge) White lions were starting to emerge as my favorite unit. My chariot did really bad in this game and it made me kinda mad.

Result : Win

Third game was also vs Wong andthe orcs in a rematch. This game was the best of the three. I had switched some stuff up and the Prince and dragon were gone. Added another unit of spearmen, battle standard bearer, and Wizard. The lion chariot was alos dropped and I added in two of the other chariots. This game was all about a combat in the middle of the field a unit of two orcs one on the flank vs a unit of white lions. This is when I fell in love with that unit. Stubborn is so solid in Fantasy it is not even funny. Lets also not forget that Great Weapons striking first is also really solid. It probably took 5 turns of combat and the first unit of orcs was gone and damage was done to the second. I was finally able to get a unit of spearmen over there to help out and they did not help, they made the lions kill nothing lol. At this point there were only like 3 lions left tops and no champ. So they both ran but those lions fought hard as hell. I dont know how I feel about elf magic since it really doesnt do damage, the rerolls are nice but kinda situational.
